The Four Ages According To Srimad Bhagavatam The Hindu Religion

Creation leads to Destruction ,which in turn creates something new.We all are familiar with the Law of Energy"Energy can neither be created nor it can be destroyed but can only be transformed from one form to another".The same way life does not end with Death;rather,the soul is reborn in a new body(soul transferred from one body to another).According to Srimad Bhagavatam the soul lives through a cycle of lives,much as the various ages associated with cosmic time repeat themselves.

In contrast to the concept of Linear Time ,Srimad Bhagavatam,the sacred texts of Hindu Religion ,mentions the time concept in form of cycles called YUGAS.The Cycle of Yugas can be compared to as something like Nature repeats the cycle of seasons,the Days of the week recur,Day turns into night and then day again.The succession of these great cycles of Yugas are called DIVYA YUGAS.There are altogather four Ages which repeat themselves in cycle and form one Divya yuga.Let me tell you about this four Ages and the number of years they last for

1.Satya Yuga also known as Golden Age lasts for 1728000 years, human life span 10,00,000 years.

2.Treta yuga also known as Silver Age lasts for 1296000 years ,human life span 10,000 years.

3.Dwapara yuga also known as Copper Age lasts for 864000 years,human life span 1000 years.

4.Kali yuga,also known as Iron Age lasts for 432000 years ,human life span 100 years

Those who are not at all familiar with Srimad Bhagavatam will be surprised or even will not believe the years mentioned here from Srimad Bhagavatam.The present Yuga is kali yuga which is the last yuga of the Divya yuga cycle.Note that the number of years as well as Human Life span gradually decreases as we move from Yuga number 1 to last Yuga.It is said that the Average Life Span in Kali yuga will be 100 years and will go on decreasing as it will come to its end.We are now more than 5000 years into Kali yuga after the battle of Kurukshetra and Lord krishna ascending to the Spritual kingdom from the earth.So there are 427,000 years left for Lord Krishna to again descend on the earth in the form of Lord Kalki and after which there will be a partial destruction of the universe.Again cycle of ages will repeat and a new Satya yuga will dawn.
